Los Angeles-based wedding photographer Marlies Hartmann joins us to share eight of her most beautiful images with behind-the-scenes breakdowns and has an honest and deeply resonant conversation about burnout, boundaries, and why shooting fewer weddings has made her a better photographer.
Marlies Hartmann is one of those photographers whose work simply stops you in your tracks. Based in Los Angeles and shooting weddings across the US and beyond, Marlies was the very first non-UK photographer Neil reached out to when he launched his Patreon, and she said yes. We have loved her work ever since.
In this stream Marlies shares eight images with full behind-the-scenes breakdowns, talking through her creative process, her lighting philosophy, and the thinking behind some of her most memorable shots. But this stream is just as memorable for the honest and genuinely moving conversation she has about burnout, including a year so busy and stressful it gave her shingles, and her intentional decision to cut back, shoot fewer weddings, and reclaim her creative joy.
Beautiful photography, beautiful conversation, and a very important reminder to look after yourself. 🎉
