Members Spotlight - Kimberley Hill Photography

Where in the world are you based? Where is the most exciting location you have shot at?

Leicestershire UK.  My most exciting location was up in the hills of Matlock, where the groom and his groomsmen came on cablecars.

When did you set up your photography business and what genres of photography do you shoot?

I started my business 10 years ago when I was on maternity leave with my twins.  I've always only done wedding photography.

What would you say has been your most memorable photography job and why?

My most memorable photography job was when I did a free shoot for a charity with a bride who was terminally ill. It wasn't the most glamorous job by a long shot but this is one that stands out to me as it really bought home what I was there to do! Capturing moments for the family to treasure and knew these would be looked at forever.

What is your all time favourite photograph you have taken and why? (This doesn't even need to be flash or work related) Please include this in your ten images at the bottom of the questionnaire!

It has to be the reflection shot I took with the building in the back at a new venue for me! Its got me loads of booking there since!

Reveal one thing you keep in your camera bag that people may not expect to be there. Why is it there?

Antihistamine tablets! Been stung by a wasp twice at a wedding and had a funny turn so keep them with me now!

What is the biggest reason you like using off camera flash?

It allows me to get creative, I like shooting dark and moody so right up my street!  I love that you can create something from nothing!

What is the best part/biggest benefit of being a Flash Masters member?

The recognition for flash photography! The community is epic! No stuck up folk in here!

If you could give one piece of advice to anyone starting out on their flash photography journey, what would it be?

Get yourself on a few training course, practice and practice some more! And don't be afraid to ask for help!

Thank you so much Kimberley for your members spotlight! We are absolutely thrilled to have you in the Flash Masters community and congratulations on your 5 Flash Masters awards so far! Want to see more of Kimberley's work? You can check out her profile here!
